A native of southeastern Michigan, Dr. Patel completed his medical education at Northeast Ohio Medical University, graduating with honors and induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Summa Health System followed by an advanced fellowship training in Spine Surgery at New England Baptist in Boston.

Dr. Patel serves as an Associate Professor of Orthopedics at both Michigan State University and Wayne State University, where he is actively involved in teaching residents and medical students. He is also a committed member of the North American Spine Society.

Clinically, Dr. Patel has a strong focus on motion-preserving treatments such as cervical and lumbar disc replacement, as well as a wide range of minimally invasive spine procedures including microdiscectomies and minimally invasive fusions. In addition to surgical care, Dr. Patel offers minimally invasive pain management options such as epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablations, and spinal cord stimulation.

With over two decades in practice, Dr. Patel has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and remains actively engaged in ongoing research to advance the field of spine surgery.  He travels nationally to train other surgeons on emerging technologies and advanced surgical techniques.

Dr. Patel’s philosophy centers on restoring function and improving quality of life through the safest, least invasive, and most effective treatments available. He is dedicated not only to treating spinal conditions but also to educating patients so they can make informed decisions about their care.
